As part of our Classic Range, PURIST concentrates on the art of the essential; dispensing of all that is superfluous. This series is characterized by its gently rounded handles and a broadly shaped neck.
Taken from the Erica Arborea shrub, Briar Wood has long been used to create fine tobacco pipes because of its fire-resistant properties. Obtained from the root structure of the shrub, the dense roots are dug out by hand when the plant is a minimum of thirty years old.
After harvesting, the wood is then cut into blocks, cooked, and rested for up to a year. Only after this processing does the wood take on its beautiful reddish hue. The finest sections of the wood are then processed further by sanding, staining, waxing, and polishing.
Each Briar Wood handle possesses its own unique pattern of swirling grain, lending individual character to every brush, razor, and set.
A real investment piece, the R59SR supersedes the need for single-use plastic. Growing concern about the effects of disposable plastic makes the R59SR a great choice for the environmentally conscious, reducing both unnecessary plastic waste and unwelcome environmental impacts, without compromising on precision.

Type: SAFETY RAZOR
This is one of the most aggressive razors I own. It does a beautiful job but takes some practice. Paired with a good blade, this thing is unstoppable.
Product well made but has learning curve, R41 GS stainless razor
First and foremost, the Muhle R41gs stainless steel is beautiful. The first thing I did when I received this razor was just observe it for 15 minutes. It’s flawless. The craftsmanship and the finish on this razor is second to none, and I truly mean that. I’m still partial to another razor for sentimental reasons but this razor is truly one of the most (likely the most) beautiful I own and I can’t deny it. The size and weight of the stainless steel is awesome and truly a manly man sized razor. Now on to performance; I’ve shaved with this razor twice so far and it’s as much of a beast as everyone says. Paired with feather blades the Muhle R41gs stainless steel gives me the closest shave I’ve ever had. But be warned, this razor (and feather blade combo) is NOT for a beginner. A beginner is likely to turn away quickly from safety razor shaving if he starts out with this razor. Cheers.
