Thiers Issard registered the “Le Transatlantique” trademark in 1914, in honor of Jeanne Thiers, his sister, who adored ships and traveling. Up to today, the beautiful sailing ship transatlantic trademark dons the side of Thiers Issard straight razors’ tangs along with Jeanne’s English name, Jane.
Thiers Issard 'Le Transatlantique' Straight Razor 6/8" Abalone Round Point Carbon Steel with Carbon Steel is ‘Singing’ Hollowed, or extra-hollowed. This nickname comes from the sound the blade makes when a softer material is dragged gently across the cutting edge - like making your water glass sing! Thiers Issard straight razors represent the finest grind and thinnest blades available. Founded in 1884 by Pierre Thiers, a skillful blacksmith known for exceptional handheld blades. The family business continued through Pierre’s wife and sons well into the 20th century, and the handmade blades are still produced in central France today. Thiers Issard stands by their product, offering repair, resharpening, and renovation of their products. A blade that will certainly stand the test of time.

Love my new razor! Could have easily shaved straight out of the box with it because it clipped the hairs off my arm holding it just above my skin. However, as my routine, I stropped about 50 passes and got to it.
Been close to three weeks now and other than daily stropping I have not yet had to re-hone the blade. And it’s a great pleasure to hold.
